52 Fridays, Week 7: Love
This 52 Fridays post is all about love. You see my oldest and my youngest have a special connection – they have from the moment I brought Anna Kate home from the hospital. Alex has always been there for her, loving her, watching out for her, making her laugh. These two are thick.

As a side note… I really do have three kids. You will rarely see them together here, because I almost never force them to take pictures. Since I want to have a camera in their face frequently (ahem, daily) I let them have some control so that they don’t totally hate having their pictures taken. I pretty much always ask the boys (4 and 6) if they want to have their pictures taken unless I’m shooting something very lifestyle where they don’t have to look. Most of the time someone will say no, as Nathan did today, and I respect that. I don’t want them to hate my camera.
I read an article today that focused on shooting your own kids… I really liked some of the advice the guest writer (Emma Wood) gave. I need to focus even more on connecting with my kids while I’m shooting. Less camera, more mommy.
52 Fridays is a group project taken on by a wonderful group of ladies from The Bloom Forum. You can check out Linsey Stuckey | Houston, Texas Photographer next and then travel around the circle to see what the rest of the group came up with.

Cara – This is a beautiful shot. I love the connection you’ve captured. Such a good point about connecting with your kids and letting them have control over whether they want to have their picture taken. I wish I had read this advice earlier – I’m afraid mine are already ruined!

Oh I gasped in delight when I saw this! Breathtaking! Love the yummy light! And love how you work with your children and the camera. I’ve been ignoring my kids with the camera and they’ve been requesting it. LOL! Who knows what psychology works at any given moment! Beautiful capture!!!

Beautiful light and image. I’m so glad we took our workshop together – I feel I know you better. And I too am afraid that I ruined my eight year old – lol. I’ll be reading that article – thank you for sharing!

The love we are able to catch glimpses of between siblings (which can sometimes be less frequent than we’d like!) is just sweet. Love this!

Such beautiful light, and I love your daughter’s name.
I also look forward to reading her article, and how you respect the fact that they may not want their picture taken.
