52 on Friday: Oldness
Wiggly teeth, wide gap-toothed smiles, dollars under his pillow… we are at that age. Losing his teeth and the last bit of his babyhood along with it. Getting older (he will enter second grade in August.) There are new challenges, emerging passions, and lots of new friends. Another phase of motherhood for me, trudging ahead.
I should be the mother of babies and toddlers – small children. But here I have a big kid, how could that be possible? How has it been 7 years since I held his tiny body against my chest as he slept? How have these years flown by?
I recently celebrated my 30th birthday, and honestly it wasn’t a huge deal to me. But each day I look at his gangly legs, his growing feet, and of course his gap-toothed smile, and I feel older. Why can’t they just stay babies? Why do they have to grow so fast?

52 on Friday is a personal project undertaken with a group of wonderful ladies from The Bloom Forum. Travel around the blog circle and see what the others came up with starting with Linsey Stuckey.
