Sweet Little Family – Cincinnati Newborn Photographer

Mr James came to me at nearly 4 weeks old. He was exactly as a nearly 4 week old baby ought to be – awake, alert, and curious for much of the session. He barely made a peep but spent lots of time looking around the studio and taking his new world in with those big blue eyes of his. There’s something special about these “older” newborn sessions – they are just different than brand new fresh-from-the-hospital newborns. And while I still recommend mommas bring their little ones in before they hit two weeks, I have no problem at all celebrating these babies that are a tiny bit bigger and a whole lot more aware of the world around them.

(That one with the puppy… he’s tricking you. He’s not asleep, just blinking. Stinky lil’ jokester.)

By the way: Nothing makes me happier than when a momma and a daddy mention to me that family pictures are the most important thing from their newborn’s session. Because while I love a sweet squishy baby just as much as the next gal (and Mr James did not disappoint) my heart lies in these first family portraits, these manifestations of a growing love for a new little life.

The little dude finally went to sleep at the end of our session – I told mom that we’d be able to bust out a bunch of pictures once he drifted off into a deep sleep and sure enough we did – a full session’s worth of sleeping baby pictures in about 20 minutes. That’s the beauty of babies, usually once they are out, they are really out.
