A Shout out to Moms

Moms,

This mothers day, I want you to know that you are awesome.

The job of mothering never ever ends – the whistle doesn’t blow at 5:00 or 9:00 or ever, we moms are always “on” ready to help our children any time of day or night. This work we call being a mom is tough. Mentally and physically. We have borne babies in our bellies and on our hips and in our hearts. We have logged 100,000 miles to and from baseball and scouts and playdates. We have sacrificed a huge part of ourselves to them, in the name of love.

And it is that love for our children that keeps us mommies going every day.

I hope and pray that every one of my friends and clients feels extra loved this Mothers Day.

For all you do and all you are and all you mean to them, Happy Mothers Day.

Love,

On the Move {Cincinnati Baby Photographer}

Little Mr is 9 months old already! He’s on the move too, crawling all over, pulling up, and even starting to stand alone! I’m thinking he’ll be walking (or maybe even running) by his one year session for sure. I’d better bring some good shoes to that one. ;) I absolutely LOVE 9 month olds. If I could pick any age to photograph, I might just pick this age… so adorable!

Nothing Between Them {Cincinnati Couples Photographer}

“Distance is not for the fearful, it is for the bold. It’s for those who are willing to spend a lot of time alone in exchange for a little time with the one they love. It’s for those knowing a good thing when they see it, even if they don’t see it nearly enough…” ~Anonymous

This winter I was contacted by the lovely miss Jamie, whose husband was preparing for a naval deployment in the very near future. We lucked out with

Change is Good.

Wow! 2013 has started off on a great foot! Just since Christmas I’ve had a lovely family session, two super sweet newborns, and an absolutely lovely couple (who had their session outdoors, in January, with short sleeves. How awesome is that?!) With every new year, I revisit my business policies, figure out what works, what doesn’t, what needs updating/changing/etc. And each year as I grow, I tweak things. I change things. My brand evolves, along with my photography itself.

Fall Leaves and Warm Hearts {Cincinnati Family Photographer}

Still catching up on fall family sessions… blogging has really gotten away from me the last several months! These lovelies are wonderful friends of ours – our little girls are just a couple weeks apart in age, and they are bible class buddies – it cracks me up how much of a girly girl miss Em is, and my little Anna Kate never fails to point out her pretty dress or her shoes. Maybe one day they will be sharing wardrobes and helping each other pick out clothes for a date (This will happen when they are at least 25, I’m sure. Daddy’s rules.) ;)

At any rate, I absolutely LOVED our time together for this little session – the November weather was perfect, and although most of the trees had already dropped their leaves, this giant ginkgo tree was still bright yellow in all its glory. :) Miss Em was all giggles, and we had a great time playing together. Hope this becomes a yearly event!

Home is where the love is {Northern Kentucky Photographer}

classic-black-and-white

Perfection is being invited into a family’s home. Where they are comfortable. Where they belong. Where their children have roots. The four walls that contain their lives… how much more special could it be?

This session is one of my favorites, the sweet Miss C, with her giggles and laughs and all the exuberance that a seven-year-old can muster, showing me her favorite places,

Color, Love, and Light {Cincinnati Fall Family Pictures}

fall family portraits in the middle of the yellow leaves

Well, I just made 1000 deliveries this week, and all of my clients christmas cards and gifts and goodies are in their hot little hands, so now it’s time to relax and enjoy December with my kiddos! It’s such a special time of year – a time to reconnect with family and remember all the wonderful things that make life sweet.

And hopefully, I can spend a little time getting caught up on session shares here on the blog! First up is this awesome family – the girls were so playful and fun! They just wanted to run and play and jump in the leaves – they just wanted to be children! I absolutely loved capturing some of this playfulness for mom and dad to treasure through the years…  their session album is surely going to be a treasure for generations! :)

Then then the Sun Showed Up (Finally)

Adorable little Grace is one! And unlike her rainy-day newborn session and her soaking downpour six month session, we finally got some long awaited sunshine for her big one year birthday photos! Mom and I were a little worried looking at the forecast, but it finally happened. And Ault park was the perfect backdrop for this sweet little (growing) family.

This week I read a story, a blog post that went viral. It’s titled “The Mom Stays in the Picture” by Allison Tate, featured on Huffington Post.(You can read it here, it’s pretty eye opening.) I’ve said this to so many moms over the last several years, urging them to get in the pictures with their children! I love love LOVE mommy and me sessions, they are my favorite EVER. Please moms, get in the pictures with your kids.
