This gorgeous wedding was one of my favorites because of the simple joy these two had for each other – you can see it in their eyes, in their smiles, in their laughter, and in their warm embraces. They truly had a special spark that only comes from true love, and their wedding was an absolute pleasure to photograph!
The simple adornment of this lovely baroque style castle-like setting just highlighted their love for each other – proof positive that you don’t need an abundance of fancy flowers or huge decorations (not that there’s anything wrong with these things.) You really just need a special someone you want to share your life with. This isn’t a popular mantra of the wedding industry I’m a part of, but it’s absolutely true.
Honoring family during a wedding
The best part about this wedding is the way they incorporated their families in the day – they had a beautiful sand ceremony for their children and honored their grandparents with whom they now share an anniversary. The fact that they now have a blended family of “his” and “hers” is celebrated joyously during this wedding and I tried my best to incorporate this love and joy into every wedding photo I took. Every moment of this day was filled with love for family, love for each other, and a simple love for life.
The ceremony is the most important part – it’s the tie that binds
Of course, every photographer loves the detail shots and the bridal portraits, but lets be honest with ourselves – the most important part of a wedding is in fact the wedding itself. Not the production, but the vows a bride and groom take, knitting themselves together. This couple incorporated so many personal touches into their wedding – not all are shown here because the post is already getting long. It was such a lovely, meaningful ceremony!
And that moment right there folks, is my favorite moment at any wedding. A private moment just *after* the ceremony ends when the husband and wife have said their vows to each other, given each other the rings, walked down the aisle together, and now get a few seconds to relish their new status as a married couple. The joy is so thick in the air that you can feel it! So glad I caught that for them.
We also lucked out on a gorgeous sunset… it had been totally overcast all day, and the bride and groom were being such good sports about the fact that they wouldn’t get any sunset pictures as we’d planned. But as they were mingling with guests and I was off taking pictures of all the wedding goodies photographers like to take pictures of, the groom and I both noticed the sky – it was the most gorgeous purple, blue and pink sunset ever! And it wasn’t going to last long. At the exact same moment we both came running through the venue looking for each other, then together we found the bride, ran to the upstairs (no time to get across the street to the overlook) and captured some of our favorite images from the day.
And now it’s time to party! Reception photos here!
Of course, then it was time to have some fun! Cake and first dances and toasts – all a vital part of the big day’s celebrations!
Thanks again to this lovely couple for allowing me to photograph such a wonderful wedding! It was a pleasure spending your big day with you.
