This sweet little girl’s mommy recently contacted me for newborn portraits – her baby girl was already 3 weeks old, and unfortunately due to my busy schedule the earliest I could work her into the schedule was when she was nearly 5 weeks old. Normally, parents contact me before their babies are born, and we shoot newborn portraits when the baby is between 5-10 days old, so that the baby will have that tiny “newborn” curl.
I explained that to sweet G’s momma that I would be thrilled to capture her baby during the precious fleeting first weeks. I also explained to her, as I would all other inquiring parents, at 5 weeks old the baby would not likely be molded into some of the curled and propped positions you may have seen here or on other photographer’s sites. It didn’t matter to her and that was OK by me. We both agreed that the sleeping poses would be fantastic if we could capture them, but we would take little G’s clues and let her lead the session.
It was an amazing session and I am so excited to share with you the images from our morning together. Little G was so calm, and ended up dozing off a few times for me. We shot this session at my home studio, and since momma wanted a few shots outdoors, we took a short hike down to the pond behind my home – the weather was perfect for a newborn outdoors, nice and warm. 🙂
