Meet my niece. She’s a spunky little thing, entering the world early at 29 weeks. She’s spent a few months growing, and over the holidays she was ready for her newborn session – just barely shy of 3 months old. She’s an absolute joy and gave me quite a few little grins and goofy faces. I’m so glad I get to be her Aunt, because she’s gonna be a fun kiddo!
I’ve had mommas of preemies upset that they missed their opportunity for newborn pictures when their little ones were first born, but the truth is I can photograph babies at any age! Preemies especially don’t follow age milestones at first, developmentally they are very much still “newborns” for a while. If your preemie hasn’t had portraits yet, contact me when you are released from the hospital. I’m comfortable with complex medical needs – I’ve photographed newborns with oxygen, feeding tubes, and other equipment.
Often with preemies, it’s easier for us to have the session in your home – Elizabeth’s session is a great example of how we can achieve a studio look at a client’s house, even in a smaller space – all I need is a good window and a blank wall.
