She’s already disobeying me.
I told her to stop growing up, but she did it anyway.
She’s officially a toddler now. She toddles all over the house.
On the day of her birthday party, I asked her if she wanted to wear her pink tutu. She nodded yes. And she started bouncing up and down with excitement. I’m not used to this kind of girlieness. But i’m loving it.
She is absolutely precious. She was the unexpected suprise that we now couldn’t live without. She is a blessing.
A few quick stats:
– Weight: about 17 1/2 lbs. We’ll go to the doc next week to verify. She’s a tiny thing.
– Eating: She eats anything you put in front of her, although her favs are blueberries and avacado. She still will not let me feed her, so she doesn’t eat much stuff that has to be spoon fed. We will be working on her spoonfeeding herself soon. She still nurses quite a bit, and shows zero intention to quit. She isn’t that great at drinking from a sippy yet, but we are working at it. She can drink from an open cup fine, but that is still a mess!!
– Sleep: Not so great. She’s a light sleeper, and although she gets to bed easily, she also wakes up easily. And when she does, she doesn’t fall back asleep well on her own. This means short naps and night waking. I’m a sucker for the night waking stuff, though. I bring her to bed with me, and we both have a wonderful snuggly nights sleep after that. But it works for our family, and I don’t care what anyone else has to say about it.
– She walks!! She took her first steps about 3 weeks ago, and now is toddling everywhere!
– Favorite toys: She hasn’t made a lovey-type attachment yet, but she really likes her baby dolls, her stuffed doggy, and her ride-on Elmo airplane she got for her birthday. She loves to rock her baby dolls.
– Words: She is a talker! I won’t list all the words she says now… There’s at least 30. I lost count. One really cute thing she says – she puts random things on her head as if it is a hairbow, and tells me she is “pretty.” She has done this with a belt, a tortilla, and strips of paper.
– She loves to sing! During church, she will sing along with the songs. She also sings along with American Idol. And when she plays with her ABC toy, she will sing along, and actually try to say the letters. She gets only a few, but she really does try. Another favorite song is “If You’re Happy and you Know It,” which she calls “Happy Knowy” and will ask for by name (with much clapping.)
– Most people don’t realize that she talks as much as she does – she is a bit shy. When someone tries to talk to her, she will either look at them with a blank stare or she will bury her head in my shoulder. She is doing better with leaving mommy, though. She has been going to Bible class for several weeks now, and doesn’t cry anymore.
Hey Cara…Happy Birthday to your precious little girl! Hey, have you tried some white noise in her room to get her to sleep more soundly? All of my kids sleep with a fan in their room, and it helps to drown out other noises. They also have those white noise machines, which I’m sure you’ve seen. Anyway, just thought I’d throw that out there…
Still trying out features on my camera-I know it’s not the best thing, but I like it and I want to know how to use all of the features it’s got. I took some pictures of some snow geese yesterday and they turned out pretty good!
