This week was tough for me. I didn’t want to shoot food. I’m not a foodie. Was I trying to buck against the grain, and prove that “homemade” didn’t mean food. Or crafts. Or something equally domestic? Maybe. I don’t know. Maybe I just felt that it wasn’t right for my project. I want this 52 week journey to be about my children. Not about some recipe that I made. Or some home-sewn masterpiece that someone made for them (certainly not me because making things is not what I do. I can create, but I do not make stuff. I fail every time.) No. That is not them. I want this to be about them.
I had some pictures taken of my son’s latest project for cub scouts. Definitely homemade. But somehow, the pictures lacked heart.
Oh well. I edited them. and I wrote the blog post. And then I cooked dinner… something happened that night, during that perfect moment when they were slurping on that rather salty, not so delicious, but wonderfully warm and wonderfully homemade chicken soup with rice… The moment. They slurped with gusto and I wanted to capture it.
52 Fridays is a group project taken on by myself and some of the wonderful ladies from The Bloom Forum. Take a minute and check out what they came up with for “Homemade” this week. You can start by hopping over to Jack and Janie Photography to see what Lindsey Stuckey came up with this week, then continue around the circle.
There is something about that a first shot that reminds me of Where the Wild Things Are. (thought that immediately–before I saw your quote in the last one). Simply fabulous!
Oh my goodness! The second one with the bowl! I would pay my children to eat my dinners with such gusto! And my initial thought about “homemade” was my kids. These ARE special! What a wonderful moment (and great quote!)!
That is awesome! Love the bowl shot especially – great moments and you captured them so well!
love your photos (and chicken soup with rice!) – especially the one of your littlest – how precious!
I love how sometimes moments just happen when you least expect it. Lovely images 🙂
Mmm… nothing quite as heart warming as some chicken soup… and when your children slurp it down without complaint that’s just doubly heart warming. The slurping bowl pic is just gorgeous…. Love how the most unexpected moments catch us off guard, yet are the most beautiful!
these are just precious…I love how your theme just evolved and still involved your boys as you LOVE…..great job!!! you’ll cherish these i am sure for years to come!
Oh I’m so glad you found your sweet shots!
This is just a wonderful moment caught in time that you’ll cherish forever! Oh, and I LOVE soup….makes me want some now!
I just love these shots. Not only are they beautiful, but they capture your children in such a gorgeous light!
Ha now I want some chicken soup with rice. Such a sweet sweet post! and so full of heart.
