A Christmastime Catholic Wedding in Cincinnati | Beth + Michael

There’s something undeniably meaningful about a Christmas wedding inside a historic Catholic church. The quiet reverence, the glow of candlelight and poinsettias lining the altar, and of course the traditions that have been passed down for generations all make for a very special wedding day. Beth and Michael’s Cincinnati wedding was the perfect blend of heartfelt moments, timeless faith, and winter romance.

Getting Ready at Lytle Park Hotel

Beth began her day at the elegant Lytle Park Hotel, one of my favorite locations for wedding mornings in downtown Cincinnati. The soft natural light, contemporary architecture, and calm atmosphere made it an ideal space to ease into the day.

One of my favorite parts of the morning was watching Beth with her children, who were both part of the wedding party. There was such a genuine sense of connection and excitement as they got ready together. It added an extra layer of meaning to the entire day that you could feel in every interaction.

A Traditional Catholic Ceremony at St. William Parish

Beth and Michael chose to be married at St. William Parish Church, and their ceremony was a beautiful example of why I love photographing Catholic weddings in Cincinnati.

Catholic wedding ceremonies have a depth and intentionality that’s hard to replicate. From the processional to the Liturgy of the Eucharist, every moment carries significance. Beth and Michael’s ceremony felt especially intimate, grounded in both faith and family. The Christmas season only added to the atmosphere with beautiful seasonal greenery and rich red and gold colors .

If you’re planning a Catholic wedding in Cincinnati, churches like St. William offer a timeless backdrop and a meaningful structure that allows your day to feel both sacred and deeply personal.

Winter Portraits in the Cold Cincinnati Air

It was cold—the kind of sharp, winter chill that makes you grateful for warm coats and quick portrait sessions. But Beth and Michael were absolute troopers, and it paid off.

We captured portraits both at Lytle Park and around the church, leaning into the season rather than fighting it. The crisp air, soft winter light, and quiet city streets created a romantic, almost cinematic feel. There’s something about winter weddings that strips everything down to what really matters—the people, the emotion, and the commitment being made.

A Day Rooted in Family and Meaning

After the ceremony, Beth and Michael celebrated with their loved ones in a relaxed, low-key reception. The focus of the day remained exactly where it belonged: on their marriage, their family, and the meaningful moments they shared together.

A Personal Note of Gratitude

This wedding day will always stay with me for deeply personal reasons. Shortly before Beth and Michael’s ceremony, I received the news that my grandmother had passed away. Beth showed an incredible level of kindness and empathy in that moment, giving me heartfelt hugs when I needed it and extending such genuine care throughout the day.

She also honored her own grandmother in a way that felt especially meaningful. At the very end of the night, we stepped outside into the cold and photographed Beth and Michael beneath a beautiful full moon, inspired by her grandmother’s favorite phrase: “I love you to the moon and back.” It was quiet, emotional, and incredibly special; a moment that helped carry me through a very difficult day. I will always be grateful to her for that.
